MEET DAVID

PROVEN LEADERSHIP FOR OUR COMMUNITY

David Martin is the Veteran Resource Specialist at Mott Community College and staffs the Veteran Resource Center.  David completed Veteran Advocacy training as the Post Service Officer for Davison American Legion Post #267.

​

David retired from the Air Force where he led Combat Weather Team support to US Army ground and aviation forces; deployed in support of Operation Desert Shield, Restore Hope and Support Hope.  His last assignment was as Chief, Weather Station Operations, Army Aviation Center, Fort Rucker, Alabama.

​

After military service, David was the Director of Security Services at the Pontiac Silverdome.  As the ranking security person on-site, he determined security threat, safety risks, and emergency response for the 80,000 seat stadium and 120-acre site.  Staffed up to 300 security and customer service personnel.  David developed a security plan, approved by the NFL, to secure Super Bowl XL World Champion Pittsburgh Steelers’ practice facility and provided his expertise to aid federal anti-terror agencies.  During David’s tenure, the Silverdome hosted a successful presidential campaign stop for President George W. Bush.

Other security related positions included private investigator and automotive-industry corporate security posts.

David is a graduate of Keiser University’s Homeland Security program.  He is CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) certified Train-the-Trainer and completed Military Emergency Management Specialist (MEMS) training.

David served as councilman and mayor pro tem for the City of Davison.  Also served as post commander of Davison American Legion post and three times as Master of the Davison [now Fellowship] Masonic Lodge and other fraternal chapters.

As a supporter of law enforcement and a believer in community service, David has participated in numerous activities as a Flint Blue Badge volunteer.

Married to Grace, a former Army reservist serving two tours in Iraq.  David and Grace are active in First Baptist Church of Davison where David serves on the Leadership Core and Grace is a Sunday school teacher.
